The National Museum of the Philippines – Sulu preserves and celebrates the rich history, culture, and heritage of the Sulu Archipelago. Established as the Sulu Museum and Library in 1981, it was later donated to the National Museum of the Philippines in 1994 and opened to the public in 1997. Its collections feature traditional textiles, clothing, weapons, tools, musical instruments, ornaments, and ceremonial objects that reflect the diverse communities of Sulu. The museum also highlights the Sultanate of Sulu, its role in Islam, maritime trade, and cultural exchange, offering visitors a deeper understanding of Sulu’s enduring heritage.
