The National Museum of the Philippines - Cebu is housed in the historic Aduana Building, built in 1910 as part of William E. Parsons’ City Beautiful plan for Cebu. After 94 years of service and surviving World War II, the building became Malacañan sa Sugbo in 2004. Following the 7.2-magnitude earthquake in 2013, it was closed for safety. In 2019, the Cebu Port Authority and National Museum of the Philippines signed a 25-year usufruct agreement. From 2020 to 2023, the building was converted into NMP Cebu, now features natural history, archaeology, ethnology, and fine arts.
