Museo Sugbo is the Cebu Provincial Museum. It occupies the entire former prison complex known as the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, located along M. J. Cuenco Avenue in the historic district of Tejero, Cebu City. The prison complex was constructed beginning in 1871. It is believed that some of the coral stone blocks used in its construction may have been taken from the nearby Parian Church when the church was finally demolished in 1878.
Currently, eight galleries are open to the public. The galleries explore Cebu's significant role in the 1521 encounter between the indigenous peoples of Cebu and the expedition led by Ferdinand Magellan, as well as the broader historical, cultural, and maritime significance of Cebu in Philippine history.
