The City Museum of Cagayan de Oro, established in 2012, preserves and shares the history, culture, and heritage of the city and its people. It is housed in the historic Water Tower, one of Cagayan de Oro’s oldest standing structures, built in 1919 and completed in 1922. The structure has endured calamities and the World War II carpet bombing of the city. Its exhibits trace Cagayan de Oro’s story from its pre-colonial roots through the Spanish, American, and Japanese periods to contemporary history. Visitors can explore artifacts, photographs, documents, temporary exhibitions, and programs that bring the city’s heritage to life.
