Widely recognized as the first museum of Philippine modern art, the Ateneo Art Gallery (AAG) was established in 1960 through Fernando Zóbel’s bequest to the Ateneo of his collection of works by key Filipino post war artists.  Initially featuring Zóbel's collection of key Filipino post-war artists, subsequent donations by artists and benefactors have expanded the collection to survey every Philippine art movement from the post-war era up to contemporary post-modern tendencies.  Located in the Soledad V Pangilinan Arts Wing of Areté, AAG’s programming has expanded to feature its permanent collection alongside contemporary projects, including the Ateneo Art Awards, as well as survey and historical exhibitions.
